Marta Hiczewski is Vice President of Business Development for The Magellan Group where she is responsible for working with clients to meet strategic objectives and develop opportunities for growth. Her role has included managing multi-market programs for food manufacturers, banks and health care organizations, among them the opening of BlueCross BlueShield of WNY’s historical downtown building and Mercy Hospital’s state-of-the-art Emergency Room. In all, she has created and managed over 1,600 games, programs and events in her professional career.
Marta began her career with the Buffalo Bisons in 1983, shortly after Rich Products Corporation purchased the professional baseball team. She served as Director of Public Relations and Promotions in 1984 and was promoted to Assistant General Manager in 1986. She is responsible for the successful development and execution of the “Every Game’s an Event” marketing strategy and the popular “fridaynightbash!” along with other exciting programs and events.
In 1991, Marta was promoted to Vice President/Operations and Administration in 1991 and headed the Rich Entertainment Group’s Marketing Services Department as Vice President/Sales and Marketing, managing the marketing, event entertainment, and the sales and fulfillment of sponsorship revenues until 2003.
Marta coordinated the inaugural Triple-A All-Star Game in 1988, which was viewed nationally on ESPN, and was responsible for the development of the marketing, branding and sponsorship strategies for the Buffalo Blizzard. She played a prominent role in the construction of the city’s downtown ballpark as well as its major league expansion efforts and was a key member of Rich’s rollout of its Mission: World Class initiative to the Rich Entertainment Group.
In addition, she was a member of the Triple-A Marketing Committee, where she successfully headed the sponsorship sales and execution in 28 markets across the country for the Triple-A World Series from 1998 to 2000.
In 1991, Marta was named the Rawlings Minor League Baseball Woman Executive of the Year and, in 1995, she was awarded the YMCA Young Leaders Award and Business First’s Forty Under Forty.
She is secretary of Cradle Beach’s Board of Directors where she is the chair of Buffalo’s Smartest Company. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center where she leads the marketing committee for the Buffalo International Horse Show and also serves on the Annual Gala Committee for the Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center.
Fluent in Spanish, Marta is a native of Miami, FL where she received both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Psychology from Florida International University.
